Great Kettle, Still a Little Work To Be Done Being a recent adopter of pour over coffee brewing, I have tried to experiment with a number of devices in my quest for the perfect cup of coffee. I originally purchased a Hario Buono and liked it but found that the water lost temperature extremely fast and the pour rate was a little unwieldy at times due to the extreme gooseneck. Poor Choice of Materials — Handle Melts and Coating Not Heat Resistant I have owned this kettle for a couple of weeks. I have the model with the black finish. It’s beautiful looking and pours very well. However there is a major problem: the handle is made of a highly flammable plastic and extends way to close to the burner. It is almost designed to melt. I am sure they must be getting regular requests to replace melted handles. There is another serious issue that may only affect the black kettles. The coating is not heat resistant. Beautiful & Functional This kettle is very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Unlike some earlier reviews, I did receive the kettle with the newer metal lid. The balance of the kettle is great and it heats up very quickly! The thermometer makes heating up water for pour over coffee a breeze. The design and lack of unnecessary crevices makes cleaning the kettle super easy as well. My only concern is that the handle still seems to be plastic (their attempt to provide a handle that protects the user from the heat?)…
